10 beauty tips for women with combination skin

Keeping skin in balance can be a big challenge, especially for those with combination skin. Applying a moisturizer that’s too rich exacerbates oily areas, cleansing the skin with a cleanser that’s too aggressive dries out and unbalances dry areas.

Finding the right skincare routine for combination skin can be a headache. That’s why we’ve listed 10 tips to help you take care of your skin.

Note that combination skin is characterized by certain areas of the face that are oilier and others that are drier. As a general rule, the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) is slightly oilier, while the cheeks are slightly drier.

Here are 10 beauty tips for combination skin:

I use a gentle, natural cleanser

Most cleansers with chemical ingredients are irritating, leaving dry areas even drier and oily areas even greasier. A natural, PH-controlled cleanser will cleanse without irritating or unbalancing the skin.

I choose naturally rich ingredients to nourish my skin

The body has difficulty absorbing synthetic vitamins, both internally and externally. So it’s best to provide it with bioavailable vitamins in the form it can best absorb them: plants, seeds, flowers, while respecting the integrity of these ingredients during processing, i.e., by transforming them mechanically rather than chemically.

I apply a gentle exfoliant regularly

An essential skincare routine. It’s important to remove dead skin cells to allow the skin to breathe, and that’s the role of an exfoliant. It’s easy to make one at home: a little aloe gel, flower, plant or fruit powder (rose, green tea, orange, seaweed). We massage it into the skin of the face. We recommend exfoliating 2 to 3 times a week.

I apply a non-drying mask

Anyone who has ever applied a mask knows that our face feels so good afterwards. We suggest a green, white or red clay mask for combination skin. We can add a vegetable oil of jojoba, apricot kernel or rosehip to keep the skin well moisturized. The miracle of clay: it absorbs toxins and restores minerals to the skin in exchange!

I avoid all cosmetics containing synthetic fragrances

The dry parts of combination skin are easily irritated. Choose products containing natural ingredients and avoid the chemical irritants found in many synthetic fragrances, which can aggravate rashes and irritate your skin.

"Mix & Match": I use 2 types of daily moisturizer

When your skin is out of control, it’s time to use 2 moisturizers suited to the different areas of your face. It can be difficult to strike a balance for those with combination skin: how do you moisturize dry cheeks without adding to the oily sheen of the T-zone? You can then use a facial oil for oily skin on the T-zone more prone to pimple development, and a dry-skin oil for the drier areas of the face. In this way, you can keep your skin supple without destabilizing its balance.

Drink more water, less coffee and alcohol

Dehydrated skin can also be caused by a lack of water. Conversely, coffee and alcohol are dehydrating and can worsen skin dryness.

I use natural make-up and, why not, I reduce the amount of make-up I apply to my skin

Going makeup-free for a few days a week or a month is very beneficial for your skin, and it will thank you for it!

Taking care of the eye contour area

The eye contour is a sensitive area where the skin is thin and needs special care. It’s important to remove eye make-up every night. Apply a gentle regenerating skin care product to the eye contour area, massaging in a circular motion, morning and night.

I protect myself from excessive sun exposure

Cold and wind are known to dry out the skin, as is the sun. I wear a large hat to protect my facial skin from excessive sun exposure.
